"A comfort zone is a beautiful place,
but nothing ever grows there."
To make any change work, you’ve got to be "ALL IN." Being "ALL IN" is a mindset that fosters growth, resilience, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. So, whatever decision we’re faced with, we need to ask ourselves: Are we ready to go "ALL IN"?
I know one thing is certain - we can never look back or second-guess our decision; that takes energy away from making our decision work. Here is a simple acrostic that will help with that:
D - Decide you are going to do it
E - Empower yourself to do it
C - Commit yourself to do it
I - Inspire yourself to do it
D - Direct yourself to do it
E - Exhaust all effort to do it
The face of my business is my website. I believe I could safely say that is the case with thousands of businesses today; everything we do revolves around it. So, if I’m going to be "ALL IN" for change, I decided my website (www.RobertStevenson.org) was the best place to start. In the wise words of Jim Rohn,
"Your life does not get better by chance,
it gets better by change."
This was a huge decision. There were so many “Better Be’s” that flew through my mind: it better be good, it better be easy to use, it better be dynamic, it better be a major resource for my clients, it better work right, it better answer their questions, it better tell a great story, it better be impressive, etc., etc., etc.
So, I wrote down my “Better Be” list and hired a firm I felt could handle the challenge. Now is the time to be prepared to listen. Steven Jobs had a great quote on this subject: “It doesn't make sense to hire smart people and then tell them what to do. We hire smart people so they can tell us what to do.” I gave them my list and watched them work their magic.
We didn’t refurbish, tweak, adjust, amend, or modify it. We BLEW IT UP and started from scratch. We got everyone involved to give it a new look, and a new feel, but most importantly ... EVERYTHING had to be redone with one objective:
to make it easier for companies, associations,
meeting planners, and booking agents to understand
what I do, how I do it, and what I believe in.
I also wanted to add a major resource for YOU. I wanted to make all my articles easily accessible and be divided up into categories for easy retrieval. So, on my website, at the top, you will find my “blog icon” which contains 179 short articles (and growing every week) on the subjects of Attitude, Corporate Culture, Leadership, Management, Sales, Team, Technology, Change, and Personal Improvement.
Was the process easy? “HELL NO.” Was it worth it? Absolutely. In summary:
Always remember, "Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change."
If you aren’t changing, you are losing, so DECIDE what needs changing.
Prepare a list of what you want to accomplish. Be specific.
NEVER second-guess that decision.
Be prepared to listen.
Have an attitude that nothing is sacred.
Be willing to blow it up and start from scratch.
I hope you liked my "CHANGE" thought process and especially liked the final results
of my new website.
